On the 14th of February AHC staff members attended a V-Day event at the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence aimed at raising global awareness to prevent violence against women and girls.
A one day event, “One Billion Rising”, was held around the world, it called for one billion women to join together to dance in a show of collective strength. “One Billion” refers to statistics (from a United Nations campaign) that states that one-in-three women will be beaten or raped during their lifetime.
Mudgin-gal Aboriginal Corporation Women’s Centre hosted the event. We thank them and organiser Dixie-Link Gordon for bringing the community together for a fun day of dancing and music for this important cause.
